The Star-Child.
Dedicated to Miss Margot Tennant (Mrs. Asquith)
The Star-Child is the story of an infant boy found abandoned in the woods by a poor woodcutter, who pities him and takes him in. He grows up to be exceedingly beautiful, but vain, cruel, and arrogant, believing himself to be the divine child of the stars. He lords himself over the other children, who follow him devotedly, and takes pleasure in torturing the forest animals and town beggars alike.
One day, a beggar, haggard and with bleeding feet, comes to town in search of her lost son, who the Star-Child is revealed to be. However, he rejects her and sends her away, and in doing so, is transformed into a loathsome cross between a toad and a snake as a punishment. His followers abandon him, and he sets off to seek forgiveness from his mother. He also repents his cruelty and asks forgiveness from the animals he tortured.
At length, he comes to a city, where he is captured and sold into slavery. His master treats him cruelly. On his first task, he sends him to find a piece of white gold hidden in the forest. The Star-Child searches all day, but cannot find it. On returning to the city, he sees a rabbit caught in a trap and stops to free him. In gratitude, the rabbit shows him where the gold is and the Star-Child gets it. However, returning with the gold, a beggar calls to him that he will surely starve unless he can give him money for food. The Star-Child gives him the gold, and his master beats him and gives him neither food nor water that night.
For the second task, he is told to go find a piece of yellow gold hidden in the forest. Again, the rabbit shows him where it is, and again, the beggar meets him at the gate, and again, the Star-Child gives him the gold. His master beats him and chains him up.
For the final task, his master tells him that unless he finds the hidden piece of red gold, he will kill him. The rabbit shows him where the gold is hidden, and he returns to the city with it. Along the way, he again meets the beggar and gives him the gold, deciding it means more to him than it does to himself.
Upon entering the city, everyone awaits him to crown him the new king, and he discovers the city's present rulers to be his mother, the beggar woman, and his father, the beggar he had given the gold to. At that point also, he is transformed to his former beautiful self. At the story's end, we are told of his kind, loving, and charitable reign, but that it only lasted for three years, and the king that followed him was cruel and evil.

The Tree of Life. Movie.

Terrence Malick's "The Tree of Life" is a film of vast ambition and deep humility, attempting no less than to encompass all of existence and view it through the prism of a few infinitesimal lives. The only other film I've seen with this boldness of vision is Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey," and it lacked Malick's fierce evocation of human feeling. There were once several directors who yearned to make no less than a masterpiece, but now there are only a few. Malick has stayed true to that hope ever since his first feature in 1973.
I don't know when a film has connected more immediately with my own personal experience. In uncanny ways, the central events of "The Tree of Life" reflect a time and place I lived in, and the boys in it are me. If I set out to make an autobiographical film, and if I had Malick's gift, it would look so much like this. His scenes portray a childhood in a town in the American midlands, where life flows in and out through open windows. There is a father who maintains discipline and a mother who exudes forgiveness, and long summer days of play and idleness and urgent unsaid questions about the meaning of things.

The Edge of Love.
"The Edge of Love focuses on the relationships between Dylan Thomas (Matthew Rhys), his wife Caitlin MacNamara (Sienna Miller), Thomas's childhood friend Vera Phillips (Keira Knightley) and her soldier husband William Killick (Cillian Murphy). The film claims these two couples were entwined in a messy love quadrilateral.
In real life, Thomas served as best man to the Killicks, and Vera was close to Caitlin, but there is scant evidence for any affairs. There are hardly any mentions of either Vera or William in Thomas's collected letters, though he does occasionally call William "Captain Waistcoat" (owing to his dandyish dress sense), and at one point unkindly compares Phillips with "a pudding-faced blond sloth".
The Edge of Love is too soft on William Killick, too hard on Dylan Thomas, and fluffs poor old Vera Phillips and her third-century brasswork altogether."

"There’s a scene in Girlhood that’s stuck with me.
All four members of the movie’s eponymous girl gang (what Bande Des Filles, the movie’s original French title, more accurately translates to in English) have rented a hotel room together for the night, determined to escape their “real” lives, which include abusive families, violent brawls with other teen gangs, and boy troubles.
One by one, they prance in front of each other wearing dresses they’ve just “bought”—replete with tags and security devices—complimenting and lovingly mocking one another.
Once each is satisfied with her look, they don’t go to a party or a club.
Instead, they turn on Rihanna’s “Diamonds,” and begin passionately lip syncing and dancing joyously with each other.
Director Celine Sciamma bathes them in warm blue light and doesn't cut away until the song ends and the girls have hugged, giggled, and collapsed in a heap on the bed.
It’s one of the only moments of pure happiness that Sciamma allows her 16-year-old main character, Marieme (fantastic newcomer Karidja Toure); things get much bleaker for her from here on out.
And the scene is a perfect example of how Sciamma doesn’t minimize or overplay the experience of growing up, of becoming yourself—topics that, in many a director’s hands, feel patronizing or overwrought.
Instead, she fills her film with authentic and surprising moments like this, scenes that, taken as a whole, paint a convincing and painful picture of what it’s like to come of age female, black, and determined to flourish in a world that’s just as determined to make sure you don’t."

В Лондоне состоялось вручение кинопремий BAFTA.
BAFTA (премия, 2015).
С удовольствием провела у экрана телевизора почти 2 часа.
Вот этих наград я ждала с замиранием сердца!
Лучший не англоязычный фильм:
- Ида / Ida (Павел Павликовский, Эрик Абрахам, Петр Дзецоль, Эва Пушчинска)
Скажу об этом фильме лишь одно - идите и смотрите.
Этот фильм - особенный.
Специальные награды:
BAFTA Academy Fellowship Award — премия, вручаемая Британской академией кино и телевизионных искусств ежегодно с 1971 года с формулировкой «в знак признания выдающихся достижений в области кинематографа, телевидения и видеоигр»

Everlasting Moments.

Я стараюсь не комментировать фильмы (на вкус и цвет товарищей нет), но я хотела бы сказать, что это совершенно замечательный, красивый фильм, ...и который я могла бы пропустить!
Такое выпадает нечасто - тихим Рождеством посмотреть фильм, в который ты будешь полностью погружен with sympathy.
(- sympathy - сочувствие, симпатия, сострадание, взаимное понимание, общность.)
Их немного, таких фильмов - и этот из их числа - редкий:
“Незабываемые моменты/Maria Larssons eviga ögonblick/Everlasting Moments”.

Такое выпадает нечасто - тихим Рождеством посмотреть фильм, в который ты будешь полностью погружен with sympathy.
(- sympathy - сочувствие, симпатия, сострадание, взаимное понимание, общность.)
Их немного, таких фильмов - и этот из их числа - редкий:

Weekend. Creech. Mike Leigh.
Прогулку с "OdnovremennO" я, к сожалению, пропустила, но это не значит, что мы не выгуляли себя, просто утро было туманное. И опять же, сожалению, я не мастер снимать туманы, но панорама была столь прекрасна, что было невозможно удержаться и не запечатлеть мгновение.
Это в выходные.
А в будни я опять встретилась с Imagine - интереснейшей программой, о которой я писала раньше.Программа охватывает широкий круг вопросов искусства на канале BBC.
На этот раз был рассказ о режиссере Майк Ли.
Режиссер Майк Ли в беседе с Аланом Йентов рассказывает о своих фильмах и о том как сложно снимать фильмы на своих собственных условиях. Здесь же и актеры, с которыми он работал, рассказывают об его оригинальном методе работы.
К чему это я?
Я люблю фильмы которые снимает Майк Ли.
“Ли уверенно разрабатывает темы человеческих отношений между обычными, ничем не примечательными людьми, зачастую принадлежащими к рабочему классу.”
То есть он рассказывает о сегодняшней жизни в Англии.
Сразу оговорюсь, что смотреть их не всегда просто и принять их тоже не просто. Ты вроде успокаиваешь себя - ну это частный случай - большинство живет иначе.
Воэможно сериал “Аббатство Доунтон” более приятен, но он описывает жизнь и быт англичан двадцатого века.
И вот еще одна цитата:
“К слову сказать, имидж города тотального гламура (Лондона) во многом создала российская пресса, так что я знаю даже некоторых дам, которые готовились к поездке в британскую столицу так, словно их там сразу поведут на аудиенцию с королевой. Но выйдя в солнечный осенний день на набережную Темзы в платье и туфельках работы больших кутюрье, почувствовали себя неловко: более демократичной толпы не встретишь даже в Париже и Вене, не говоря уже о Москве, где "в таком виде, как ходят здесь", ни одна приличная девушка на Тверскую не выйдет.”
Вот от этого можно оттолкнуться и отправиться в путешествие по реальной Англии Майка Ли.
И уж точно в этом списке будут:

Посмотрела необычный фильм.

Сюжет.
Фильм рассказывает две, казалось бы, не связанных между собой истории.
Одна происходит в современном Монреале, история успешного клубного диджея, который разрывается между своей новой подружкой Роуз и его бывшей женой Кэрол.
Другая развивается в Париже 60-х, Жаклин (Ванесса Паради) - мать-одиночка, яростно охраняющая свое дитя, сына с синдромом Дауна, который без ума от Вероники - подружки по школе, так же с синдромом Дауна.
На этом я и закончу изложение сюжета.
Скажу лишь, что фильм не из разряда “которые нужно посмотреть, прежде чем умереть”.
Однако message, мораль, объединяющая две истории, показались мне пронзительно злободневными.
Обе истории о любви. Любви матери к ребенку. Женщины к мужчине. Любви предполагающей, что другой принадлежит тебе навеки.
И два противоположных решения, разрешающих это заблуждение.
"Путь к освобождению от страданий."
